The Queen City Academy Charter School is Plainfield, New Jersey’s first charter school. QCACS serves scholars in grades K-10 and growing to K-12. High School Physics Teacher Position Overview All teachers at The Queen City Academy Charter School advance the mission, goals and educational philosophy of the school by planning and facilitating learning activities and experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth of students, while enabling students to develop competencies, skills and disposition to function successfully in society. The High School Physics Teacher should be able to: Educate students on the laws of matter and energy. Support student mastery of the laws and applications of motion, forces, and gravity. Plan and execute labs to supplement student mastery of content. Prepare all students such that they have the choice to study and excel in any STEM discipline. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of all students. Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment. Assess student performance and progress. Provide feedback to students on their progress. Create a positive learning environment for students. Develop and maintain relationships with parents and guardians. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to ensure the success of all students. Build and sustain positive relationships with parents and families. Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors. Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records. Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff. Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars. Maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in high school science education. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications The successful candidate will hold at minimum a Bachelor’s degree and certification as appropriate. The expectation is that all candidates hold at least a Certificate of Eligibility and QCACS leadership can provide guidance on obtaining full certification in the State of New Jersey. Candidates should be prepared to provide a copy of a valid New Jersey Certificate or proof of passing the required PRAXIS tests.
