Local First is a nonprofit Independent Business Alliance dedicated to building a local economy
that values people, the planet, and prosperity for everyone by advocating for our 200+ locally
owned independent business and nonprofit members, fostering community engagement, and
celebrating the unique character of La Plata County. Through well-known community events and
programs like Noel Night and the Be Local Coupon Book, Local First aims to promote localism
and bring people together to appreciate the abundance and diversity of our region.
Position Overview
The Administrative and Program Assistant will provide critical support to our small but mighty
team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and assisting with the planning and execution of
events and programs. This is an ideal opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented individual
who is passionate about supporting localism and contributing to a stronger community.
Location: Durango
Position Type: Part-Time (15 hours per week)
Reports to: CEO
Responsibilities
Provide general office support including scheduling meetings, creating and tracking
online forms, and organizing documents on Google Drive.
Assist with bookkeeping tasks such as invoicing and expense tracking as well as data
entry for budget and time tracking spreadsheets.
Maintain accurate records in the customer relationship management (CRM) software
including memberships, sponsorships, donations, and purchases.
Support the team with outreach for promotional campaigns and events including taking
orders and tracking content for the Be Local Coupon Book.
Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Previous experience in an equivalent administrative or program support role.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and facility with numerical data.
Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
Proficiency with office software such as Google Workspace and Zoom.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A positive, collaborative attitude and a commitment to Local First’s mission.
Preferred Skills
Proficiency with or demonstrated ability to learn QuickBooks Online and Customer
Relationship Management (CRM) software.
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly wage: $20 per hour plus paid sick leave, wellness stipend, and cell phone
reimbursement.
Flexible, part-time schedule. Opportunity to work from home as well as in our office
located in the Smiley Building.
