As a Wine Steward, you'll lead the Store's Wine Department in providing superior customer service and creating the best wine shop in the country by promoting and selling wines through customer education, helping customers appreciate wines, and assisting in making purchasing decisions.

What is the work?
Sales:
- Provides superior Customer Service by assisting Customers with wine related questions and by building relationships with customers; maintain knowledge of wine preference
- Maintains Customer database for follow-ups, special product offerings, educational or informational services
- Develops cross merchandising plans / educational programs
- Coordinates wine tastings for special wines by variety region, brand, or vintage
- Controls / oversees the department's budget

What is your background?
- Minimum age 18 (mandatory)
- 0+ years of experience
- Experience in ordering, inventory management, and shrink control

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Wine Steward?
- Knowledge of wines of the world including science and process of winemaking, product rating systems, growing regions, varietals, flavor profiles, food pairings, and proper storage and temperature
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong merchandising and influencing skills
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks

Can you...
- Function in a fast-paced, retail environment
- Continuously stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and side to side throughout shift
- Frequently work in cooler environment
- Occasionally lift and carry 35 lbs
- Safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts
- Work extended hours and varying work schedule as dictated by the business
