Truck Dispatcher Dragon Xpress is a private fleet specializing in local, regional, and owner-operator dry van freight. We have terminals based in Biron, WI and Sturtevant, WI. Position Overview This is a position that's well-suited for someone who enjoys a fast-paced work environment that requires you to wear multiple hats and rotate through priorities efficiently and effectively.
The dispatcher is responsible for directly managing a pool of ~20 drivers and owner-operators and has direct impact to the company's bottom line as he/she would be responsible for decisions around what business to take.
Day-to-day includes load negotiations with brokers, load planning to have matching front- and back-hauls, dispatch of daily routes to drivers, management of driver schedules and driver performance, keeping paperwork in order, review and approval of driver hours, and other tasks as assigned.
Key Responsibilities Load Planning, Dispatching & Coordination: - Coordinate the transportation of goods and schedule drivers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Load plan for drivers with both in-house and outside freight - negotiate outside freight to meet CPM target.
- Dispatch trucks and secure loads from tender boards when in-house freight is unavailable, maintaining a 100% load match rate.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and freight brokers to arrange shipments and resolve issues during transit.
- Monitor and analyze transportation metrics to meet revenue goals, reduce costs, and optimize routes.
- Gather and upload all necessary load documentation (Rate Confirmations, PODs, Scale, detention paperwork), and ensure that the hard copy of paperwork is filed away at end of day
- Ensure drivers have full utilization for the day and monitor idle time.
- Communicate daily with brokers and customers on the status of shipments and close out loads.
Driver Payroll & Settlements: - Calculate and process weekly driver settlements accurately, verifying hours worked, miles driven, and additional expenses (Payroll).
- Complete driver settlements weekly and submit them to the appropriate channels.
Reporting & Analysis: - Analyze market trends to adapt strategies, pricing, and broker negotiations for optimizing revenue.
- Prepare weekly reports on operational uptime, backhaul (matching percentage), and revenue per truck, and provide these to the operations manager. Highlight wins, losses, challenges, and priorities for the following week.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Coordinator weekly to report on maintenance trailer positioning and repair spend, ensuring priorities are aligned.
- Participate in monthly performance and driver reviews (including P4P) to ensure targets are met.
- Conduct quarterly KPI reviews, set new goals, and create content for Townhall meetings.
- Participate in yearly bonus reviews by evaluating KPI performance from each quarter.
Customer Relations & Growth: - Maintain relationships with customers and carriers to secure repeat business through professional communication and good customer service.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify leads, upsell services, and create new revenue opportunities.

Qualifications: - Proven experience as a dispatcher or in logistics.
- Strong communication skills and ability to multitask.
- Experience with transportation management software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Experience with Office programs, Microsoft Excel in particular
- Experience with Samsara
- Basic HOS knowledge
- Analytical mindset for revenue tracking and cost minimization.
