HLC Fabrication is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Detailer with expertise in SDS/2 and AutoCAD to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise and accurate shop drawings, erection plans, and detailing structural steel components for fabrication and construction projects. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, fabricators, and construction teams. Key Responsibilities Create Shop Drawings: Develop detailed fabrication and erection drawings for structural steel projects using SDS/2 and AutoCAD. Modeling and Detailing: Build 3D models in SDS/2, ensuring all connections, dimensions, and specifications meet project requirements. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and contractors to ensure clarity and accuracy in designs. Review and Verify Designs: Cross-check drawings with design specifications, codes, and standards (AISC, AWS, etc.). Problem Solving: Identify and resolve potential issues in the detailing phase to minimize errors during fabrication and erection. Documentation Management: Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation. Compliance: Ensure all drawings meet relevant building codes, industry standards, and client specifications. Software Integration: Utilize SDS/2 for advanced connection design and detailing while leveraging AutoCAD for supplementary drafting needs. Qualifications Experience: Experience as a structural steel detailer, preferably in the commercial or industrial sector. Or experience in a Related Field. Software Proficiency: Expertise in SDS/2 and AutoCAD is required, but we will take proficiency in other software into account. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, welding symbols, connection design, and industry standards (e.g., AISC, AWS). Education: Associates Degree in Drafting, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered. Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and commitment to producing high-quality drawings. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and issue resolution. Time Management: Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Preferred Skills Knowledge of additional structural detailing software (e.g., Tekla, Revit). Familiarity with BIM workflows and collaboration tools. Understanding of material optimization for fabrication efficiency. Experience in project management or supervisory roles.
