Senior Staff Accountant

Overview:

Our client is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards. This role contributes to the organization's mission by producing accurate financial reports, maintaining the general ledger, managing grants, and supporting budgeting efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; post journal entries and close periods.
• Process accounts payable and receivable; manage invoice payments and outstanding receivables.
• Support annual budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
• Assist with internal and external audits and maintain internal controls.
• Track and report on restricted/unrestricted funds and support grant compliance.
• Collaborate with program staff to align financial practices with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Reporting:

Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
