Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including:

• The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital
• The Breast Health and Women's Center
• The Cardiology Center
• The Neurosurgery Center
• The Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II Stroke Certification. The hospital's medical office building houses specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery, and pulmonology. Outpatient services also include physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

At Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The Medical/Surgical Unit cares for a variety of patients using a relationship-based care philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications

Provides direct patient care to support the licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients to ensure a safe environment by reducing risk of harm. Collects vital information on the patient and reports it to the nursing team, contributing to the overall assessment and monitoring of any changes in the patient's condition.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists the nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities using correct medical terminology. Acts as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
