SPECIAL NOTES:

High School Diploma or equivalent required .

Additional requirements:

1. Two (2) years of experience in Fire Science or Public Safety. An associate degree in a relevant field from an accredited college may substitute for the required years of experience.
2. Active Florida Firefighter Compliance Certification (633.408, .412 FS)

Preferences:

1. Prior supervisory experience.

This position will be filled at $25.00 per hour and work approximately 25 hours per week.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE:

1. Ability to work as a team member and leader.
2. Able to respond calmly and effectively when under stress interacting with people who are in crisis, including but not limited to people experiencing mental illness or chemical dependency.
3. Good written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
4. Develop reliable relationships with multi-agencies within the State of Florida.
5. Facilitate a debrief at the end of every search and rescue deployment event and document all participants and meet their needs.
6. Ability to serve as the DSFM HazMat Field Liaison.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

1. Liaison between the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Florida’s Hazardous Materials Team.
2. Organize and oversee Operational Readiness Evaluations/Self-Assessments for the Hazardous Materials Teams.
3. Coordinate multi-agency hazardous materials exercises partnering with the Florida National Guard, Florida Division of Emergency Management, and other partner agencies.
4. Create a framework under which the Hazardous Material Teams can train their personnel in conjunction with the State Emergency Response Commission Training Task Force and the Regional Domestic Security Task Forces.
5. Participate in disaster and emergency response planning and exercises with the Division of Emergency Management and partner agencies.
6. Participate on the State Emergency Response Commission Training Task Force.
7. Participate on the State Domestic Security Response Fire Committee.
8. Plan for Operational Readiness Evaluations of Florida’s Hazardous Materials Teams.
9. Assist with the coordination and distribution of equipment from State Homeland Security Grants and post-deployment replenishment to Florida’s Hazardous Material Teams.
10. Serve as the DSFM State EOC ESF 4/9 Hazardous Material Liaison and DSFM IMT SME.
11. Other duties as assigned.
