Entry level positions are becoming available for a nuclear engineer at NNL providing nuclear design and analysis support for the design, analysis, and deployment of current and future core designs. This work includes calculation of nuclear design products in support of various reactor performance analyses, balance of plant interface organizations, and the construction/manufacture of reactor cores. These organizations also drive the development of new tools and procedures through a close relationship with analysis and methods development groups in order to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the core design work. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field. Preferred Skills Able to work on individual assignments as well as being a member of a small team. Cumulative GPA of 3.2 and above on a 4.0 scale. Coursework in thermal/hydraulic design and analysis including heat transfer, reactor hydraulics, multi-phase flow, and statistics. Demonstrated leadership skills. Experience in writing technical reports and/or engineering evaluations. Previous co-op or intern experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Willing to be trained to learn new skills as needed.
