Drives ambulances or assists ambulance drivers in transporting sick, injured, or convalescing persons. Places patients on stretchers and loads stretchers into ambulances usually with assistance from other attendants. wheelchairs are pushed by hand and loaded via lift in wheelchair vans Restrains or shackles violent patients with assistance and guidance of emergency medical technician if wheelchair patients become combative upgrade transport reported to dispatch Removes and replaces soiled linens and equipment to maintain sanitary conditions. Replaces supplies and disposable items on ambulances. Reports facts concerning accidents or emergencies to Dispatch. Provide Dispatch with updates on status via electronic devices. Education And Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Current driver's license required with good driving history Must be over the age of 21 (insurance coverage reasons) Understanding of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that apply to ambulance service. Good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting while driving. Must be able to lift up heavy objects such as stretchers and patients safely with assistance.
