Senior Forensic Psychology Legal Assistant - Specific Legal experience dealing with legal aspects of forensic criminal law cases: We are seeking an experienced with a focus on legal background dealing with busy forensic practice involving complex cases. Ideal candidate would have been a legal assistant in a criminal law firm who dealt with court ordered cases including 1368, 1026, 288, 1001.36 to join our legal team. As a Senior Paralegal, you will be responsible for providing critical support to a forensic psychologist, managing client cases, conducting legal/psychological research, use of AI for analysis and assisting with the preparation of forensic legal documents for courts in northern California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support forensic psychologist/attorneys in handling court ordered cases; i
  • Communicate with clients, attorney representatives, and other stakeholders to gather information, provide updates, and manage case progress.
  • Conduct legal and psychological research and analyze relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to support client cases.
  • Draft forensic legal documents, correspondence, and briefs related to Veterans Law matters.
  • Review and organize client files, medical records, and other documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with legal procedures, psychological procedures, court rules, and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with case management, including scheduling appointments, tracking deadlines, and maintaining case calendars.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior support staff.
  • Stay current on changes in forensic guidelines, policies, and relevant legal psychological developments.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, legal studies training, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant, with at least 3 years in criminal law.
  • Strong knowledge of psychology, forensic psychology, and the law. 
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Proficient in legal software, including case management and document management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, attorneys, and Court personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of federal and state court procedures is preferred.
