Job Description Are you looking to join an award-winning organization with a culture built on innovation and public service? The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking to fill an Intern position in the Model and Data Development program area. This position will assist the program area to carry-put travel modeling activities. NCTCOG develops, maintains, and disseminates the only regional travel model for all transportation agencies in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Ideal candidates should attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and be able to work at least 20 hours per week while attending school. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assisting with transportation data cleanup Drafting for supervisor review, technical documentation for computer programs Working with supervisor to run and analyze the regional transportation model Creating for supervisor review, traffic micro simulation models Working with supervisor to perform data analysis using existing databases Required Skills - - Basic knowledge of transportation modeling - Familiarity with Microsimulation or planning software packages - Basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) - Familiarity with Python programming language - Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas - Detail oriented, highly organized, creative, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work - Ability to work independently and in a team environment Required Education and Experience Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment No work experience required Starting Salary Minimum of $17.00 per hour The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development.
