Job Reference Number: 32986 Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite Segment: Education Brand: Aladdin-Campus-Dining State: West Virginia (US-WV) Overview The Food & Safety Specialist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the implementation, adherence, and continuous improvement of both food safety and physical safety protocols for West Liberty University. This role requires a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, food safety compliance, and safety best practices to safeguard the well-being of our customers and team members. Responsibilities Food Safety: Ensure proper compliance with corporate food safety programs as required by local, state, and federal regulations. Prepare units for the health department and third-party audits and support any corrective action or continuous improvement tasks as needed. Monitor food safety log and SOP compliance. Ensure the development and delivery of food safety training programs for employees, ensuring proper handling, storage, and processing of food products. Monitor completion of internal MyFieldAudits and follow up on corrective actions. Investigate food safety incidents, conduct a root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Physical Safety: Ensure proper compliance with corporate physical safety programs to reduce workplace hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations. Training Delivery – Ensure training on health and safety management topics to WVU leadership & new managers on implementing safety programs. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and human resources, to ensure seamless integration of safety programs. Monitor reports on food and physical safety performance metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives to senior management and segment safety. Attend client and operational meetings as needed to support the effective implementation of work-based food and physical safety solutions. Continuous Improvement: Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to food and physical safety. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of safety programs and reduce risk. Promote a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization. What we're looking for Minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety with a knowledge of workplace safety standards, preferably in hospitality or food production environment; combination of education and experience will be considered. Strong knowledge of HACCP, FDA Food Code, OSHA, and other relevant regulations. Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe). Requirements Ability to work in a food production environment, including exposure to cold, heat, and other elements. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Will consider experience or combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.
