Industrial Panel Technician

The Industrial Panel Technician is responsible for assembling and wiring electrical control panels by reading and interpreting schematics. This role involves working with wiring, switches, cables, and mechanical components to construct panel units for electrical equipment. Using tools such as soldering irons, the technician ensures accurate and safe assembly of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and wire electrical control panels.
• Complete point-to-point wiring and install electronic and electromechanical components.
• Work from schematics, bills of material, and written/verbal instructions.
• Determine methods and sequences of assembly operations as needed.
• Utilize small hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, soldering irons).
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Communicate effectively with Quality Engineers, Supervisors, and customers.
• Use safety equipment and protective devices.
• Perform basic computer tasks.

Skills and Specifications

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
• Proficient in reading wiring schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Knowledge of:
• Electrical wiring diagrams, symbols, and engineering drawings.
• Workshop practices, materials, conduit, and wiring.
• Engineering calculations for current-carrying capacity of wires, fuses, and protective devices.

Education and Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: 2- or 4-year degree.
• 0-1 year of experience as a degreed electrical engineer or 3-5 years of electromechanical assembly experience.
• UL508A certification or similar certifications (preferred).
