Summary
The Driver/Courier drives automobile or light truck to deliver clinical/medical materials,messages, documents, packages and mail to various business concerns or governmental agencies, may occasionally transport office personnel and visitors, perform miscellaneous errands, such as carrying mail to and from the post office and sorting or opening incoming and outgoing mail. The Driver Courier will maintain digital or analog receipts, ledgers, and logs for articles delivered and received. The Driver Courier will also deliver items to offices and departments internal and external to the organization. Participates in investigation of Non-Conformance Reports and Root Cause Analysis.
A. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS - High School Graduate or Completion of GED.
- A clean driving record and valid driver's license.
- Must be able to independently lift materials that may exceed 35lbs.
- Possess warehousing experience to include the processing of incoming materials for storage and pulling materials from inventory.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Possess knowledge of medical terminology and numbering systems sufficient to identify products used regularly in a hospital environment.
- Possess knowledge of basic computer applications, e.g., word processing, email, spreadsheets, and basic data entry techniques are essential.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
SPECIFIC TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES Duties of the Driver Courier shall include the following:
- Transport case material between operational locations.
- Load and unload clinical/medical materials, messages, documents, packages, and mail from delivery vehicles.
- The contract employee will be responsible for materials accountability and may be responsible for performing functions related to the survey and disposition of excess material and equipment.
- Shift materials within the storage facilities and within the filing equipment to ensure maximum effective utilization of space.
- Provide quality customer service to staff and contributors
- The contract employee shall perform services that will ensure timely preservation, repackaging, movement, and storage of specimens to predetermined and annotated locations
- Acknowledges receipt of microscopic glass slides, paraffin blocks, and formalin-fixed tissues in computer tracking system by Joint pathology center (JPC) accession number, ensuring accuracy.
- Pulls materials from files upon authorized request, enters transfer of all materials in computer tracking system, and forwards to requester
- Establish and maintain stock records and other documents, such as inventory, material control, accounting and supply reports.
- Assists in other areas of the department as needed to process case materials in a timely and accurate manner
- Must be able to climb ladders and lift, shift, and move heavy items. Must be able to work with formalin-fixed human and animal tissues.
