Overview Develop and implement strategic goals for special education services in alignment with school-wide goals. Provide leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Foster an inclusive online learning environment that supports students with disabilities in accessing the general curriculum. Responsibilities Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate virtual special education teachers and service providers. Provide ongoing professional development and coaching to ensure instructional quality and compliance. Facilitate collaboration between general education and special education teams to support inclusive practices. Serve as the primary liaison between the special education department and other departments, families, and external agencies. Support virtual family engagement through clear communication and responsive problem-solving. Provide oversight with coordinator related services such as speech, OT, PT, and counseling in a virtual format. Analyze student performance data to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. Monitor progress toward IEP goals and ensure timely updates and interventions as needed. Prepare and submit reports to state and federal agencies as required. Qualifications Master's degree in Special Education Valid special education teaching certification and administrative license, as required by state of NM Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and other relevant laws and regulations Experience working in a virtual or hybrid education environment Demonstrated ability to manage teams, solve complex problems, and lead with empathy and accountability Proficient in virtual communication tools (Zoom, Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, etc.) and online learning platforms (LMS, SIS, IEP management systems) Experience in K–12 virtual public or charter schools Bilingual or multilingual abilities Must be a team player and work collaboratively Familiarity with online IEP platforms (e.g., SEIS, PowerSchool Special Programs) Must have working knowledge about EdPlan, NM Dash 100% remote position with travel for professional development or compliance needs Must have access to a reliable internet connection and appropriate home office setup Must reside in the state of NM Additional Information Competitive salary based on experience and credentials.
