Job Description

Join the team at BluePrint Engines, a rapidly growing leader in the high-performance engine industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Advanced Setup Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts and components. This role requires a deep understanding of CNC programming, machining processes, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex issues.

Responsibilities

  1. Machine Setup:

    • Set up and prepare CNC machines for production runs, including installing and adjusting tools, fixtures, and workpieces.

    • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machine setup requirements.

    • Calibrate and align machines to ensure accurate and efficient operation.

  2. Programming and Operation:

    • Evaluate, modify, and optimize CNC programs using G-code.

    • Operate CNC machines to perform milling, boring, drilling, and other machining operations.

    • Monitor machine operations to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.

    • Collaborate with CNC Programmer to optimize new programs for production runs.

  3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine issues, including mechanical, electrical, and software-related problems.

    • Perform repairs on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.

    • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to address complex machine issues.

    • Lead machine operators in daily preventative maintenance tasks.

  4. Quality Control:

    • Inspect and measure finished products using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.

    • Ensure that all parts meet or exceed customer specifications and quality standards.

    • Implement and adhere to quality control processes and procedures.

  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of machine setups, program changes, maintenance activities, and production runs.

    • Prepare and submit reports on machine performance, production output, and quality metrics.

  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance machine efficiency, productivity, and product quality.

    • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in CNC machining.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in CNC machining preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC setup, programming, and operation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of G-code programming and CNC machine operation.
  • Experience with various CNC machines, including vertical & horizontal mills, and multi-axis machines.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and quality control processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and operating machines.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Hours & Compensation

· Hours of operation: (2nd shift) Monday - Thursday 4:00 pm - 4:30 am
· The pay range for this position is $30- $35/hr. based on experience.
