What We Offer This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work 3-25 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. The pay rate for this position is $21.00 per hour.
Location In this position you can expect to work on site at parks, recreation centers, and sport facilities throughout Denver. All games take place in the evening and on weekends.
What You'll Do As Colorado's largest adult sports organization, Denver CityWide Sports offers a variety of adult sports programs as a part of the progressive Denver Parks and Recreation department. CityWide Sports utilizes a variety of sports fields and recreation centers throughout the metro Denver area to offer over 175 different Coed, Men's, and Women's leagues taking place weekday evenings and on weekends. Non-Certified Sports Officials officiate recreational activities and provide assistance to the recreation site leads and staff. These Sports Officials will officiate adult league games. Games are held throughout Denver's network of parks, recreation centers, and sports facilities.
Specifically, as a Non-Certified Sports Official you will:
- Officiate at sports events including flag football, basketball, softball, and other adult sports leagues
- Communicate with CityWide Sports Program Coordinators by telephone, e-mail, or in-person to provide information and discuss problems
- Inspect playing surfaces or fields to ensure they meets the regulations of the sanctioning body and are safe for the players
- Inspect sporting equipment and/or examine participants to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations
- Signal participants or other officials to make them aware of infractions or to otherwise regulate play
- Explain disputed calls to players (when appropriate)
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
What You'll Bring Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
- Availability during weeknights and weekends
- Punctuality and proactive communication ahead of all scheduled shifts
- Previous officiating experience
- Willingness to work multiple sites and regions
- Ability to obtain National Association of Youth Sports Certification within the first six months of hire
Required Minimum Qualifications - Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
- Experience Requirement: None
- Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
- Licensure: None
